This is a custom limited (1 of 8) collectors edition of the Khanda Pritam: The Primordial Strike  illustration. Hand finished, signed and numbered by the Artist.

“In the beginning, You created the Double-Edged Sword (Khaṇḍā), from which all the manifest world arose.”

This illustration captures the moment of divine creation (the big bang) as described in the Manglacharan (opening invocation) of Guru Gobind Singh’s Chaṇḍī Dī Vār (Ballad of Chandi). The illustration depicts the Khaṇḍā (iconic double edged sword) cutting through absolute darkness. In a single, powerful stroke, it splits the void open, allowing the Earth, stars, and the multiplicity of the cosmos to pour through the tear.

The Allegory of Duality In The Ballad of Chandi, the Khaṇḍā is more than a weapon; it is the quality of Divine Power (Śaktī) and the instrument of Creation. The sword takes its name from its ability to split (khaṇḍ), representing the power of Māyā (illusion) which creates duality (dvaita) out of a non-dual reality. This piece serves as a contemplative reminder that the cosmic play of nature (kudaratī dā khelu) begins with this primordial strike.
